Rockwool / Mineral Wool Top-Ups

Rockwool (mineral wool) top-up insulation is one of the simplest and most cost-effective ways to improve your home’s energy efficiency. Over time, existing loft insulation can compress, thin out, or fall below the recommended UK standards — leading to heat loss, cold bedrooms, and higher energy bills.

At ComfySeal Ltd, we provide professional mineral wool top-ups to bring your insulation back to optimal depth, ensuring your home stays warmer for longer.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a mineral wool top-up? +

A top-up adds extra layers of mineral wool insulation over your existing loft insulation to bring it up to the recommended 270mm depth for optimal energy efficiency.

How do I know if my insulation needs topping up? +

If your existing insulation is less than 270mm deep, or was installed more than 15 years ago, a top-up is likely to significantly improve your home's energy efficiency.

Is rockwool fireproof? +

Rockwool (mineral wool) is non-combustible and can withstand temperatures exceeding 1000C. It provides excellent fire resistance in addition to thermal insulation.

How thick should my loft insulation be? +

Current UK Building Regulations recommend a minimum of 270mm of mineral wool insulation for lofts. Our top-up service brings your insulation to this standard.

Can you install over my existing insulation? +

Yes, in most cases we lay new mineral wool directly over existing insulation. If the existing material is damaged or contaminated, we may recommend removal first.
